On National Highway 32, the road to Mu Cang Chai district, for four consecutive years, numerous convoys of vehicles carrying furniture from Sofia have made their way to a special place called Garrya Mu Cang Chai. Mu Cang Chai, once a strange and distant land, has gradually become familiar to Sofia, while Sofia has gone from being a stranger to becoming a “familiar face,” known and recognized by the people here.
Four years for a project, a long journey in which we dedicated our efforts and passion to regain trust and perfection. In the early days, “the people” of Sofia set foot on this land with confidence, enthusiasm, and a sense of pride in being the supplier of furniture for a five-star hotel in the Northwestern mountainous region. After four years, experiencing all four seasons in Mu Cang Chai, overcoming the pandemic together with the place, Garrya Mu Cang Chai has become not just a source of pride but also a true friend that understands us.
If Garrya wants to position itself as a destination that embodies beauty through simplicity—a place where people and nature harmonize—then Sofia offers a solution by using the technique of oil waxing on wood, preserving the raw and natural characteristics of the material, creating exquisite furniture pieces. If Garrya seeks to honor the traditional cultural values of the local people, Sofia is ready to go deep into the villages to purchase all the handmade brocade fabric produced by the Hmong people in Lao Cai. We cherish each piece of fabric crafted by hand and apply it to our furniture, giving the brocade a new life, where traditional values are introduced, highlighted, appreciated, and celebrated.
As the project gradually concludes, Garrya Mu Cang Chai opens a new chapter, welcoming new friends—the guests from all over who come to experience this world-class hotel space. Sofia, too, continues to be engaged in longer-term projects. But what will always remain is a Garrya, modestly nestled within the spectacular beauty of the Northwestern landscape, captured in the photos documenting the achievements of this 4-year journey, and each piece of furniture crafted by Sofia that brings satisfaction to every guest who visits.
